The failed undoing of a curse
The village sacrifice.
An important note: In 2018 we were diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder.
This is Lalein recording the dream. Sophia shall be referred to in third person as majority of the dream was mine.
This dream is intensely detailed and long. I woke to Simon to recollect this dream to him verbally. The memories are correctly sealed and now being recounted.
-
Sophia began this dream. She dreamt she was with her sister and Simon at an amusement park. They rode a rollercoaster that gave the body intense vertigo. At some point the rollercoaster went so low that Sophia scraped her knees on the ground. The red and white track of the amusement park was nausea-inducing as it blurred by.
After leaving from the amusement park, Sophia and Simon attempted to walk through the woods to find their highschool again. The sun dappled light through the trees was lovely as can be, and the smell of soil rich after rain. They happened upon a house in the woods with an open door. She seemed to recognize this house as the house of a classmate within the dream, a girl named Emma. Several kittens contained in fenced portions at the front. As the owners of the house attempted to adopt off the kittens, one large cream and swirled cat came bolting from the shrubbery yowling. It must have been her kittens. This cat bit Sophia in the hand gently to guide it to the litter as if to show her each kitten. In the dream Simon laughed, "Hey! The cat chose you!"
Soon they departed from this scene and returned to the school. The school was Kennedy Public School even though it functioned as a highschool. This was the same distorted layout of a school as the previous nightmare we had with the severed pigs' heads. The dream split into two perspectives in the moment. There were two children, the girl Eleven and the boy Will from the show Stranger Things, that were investigating the school to see if they could find a monster both were detecting. As they walked into the gymnasium, there were several people inexplicably loitering within, both parents and children. They laid eyes on a coworker of Sophia's, recognizable within the dream. Sonya is her name. Sonya was flirting with a young lover beside the stage and the children were wary of this stranger in the dream, thinking that was the monster in disguise. But as they wandered about the gymnasium trying to sense each person, they were confused. They could not find the monster.
As they turned to leave, Sonya hopped into view, and said, "You know. I think I've fooled you long enough. I just can't help myself. I'm so hungry."
Her head and body distorted and clawed open into an icy maw that froze the parquet around her steadily. An icy tentacle burst out of the mess and aimed for a child screaming nearby. Eleven and Will attempted to hold her down, screaming at the passersby to run. This scene of the dream ended as Eleven and Will desperately thought to warn Simon and Sophia of the events right below them. All we have is the sound of their screams.
Upstairs, Sophia and Simon were in some sort of class that required laptops. There was a substitute teacher, a militaristic man that was very impatient, rushing Sophia to get her laptop prepared. He was muscular and tall and had a boxed buzz cut, and also cauliflower ears. He also was Emma's father, and Emma was absent for reasons unknown. Meanwhile, the old machine Sophia was attempting to use was smeared with red wax, and many keys were unresponsive. The substitute could see this but he would not stop his snarky comments. "Ready to join us, Ms. Luo? Everyone else got theirs ready so I don't understand your excuses. Just solve the problem and move on." Things of the like.
As she was attempting to set up this machine, texts were going across the screen. She was in a conversation with Casmir and also Casmir's mother. Casmir was asking, reasonably, for her mother to contribute some way financially to the family, as Casmir herself was growing increasingly stressed out as the sole provider to the house. Casmir's mother then sent a flippant message about how she was being emotionally manipulative. Sophia's nerves and anger spiked.
Before she could answer these messages, the substitute barked at her to forget setting up the machine. He would see to it that she would personally fail the class.
Sophia stood up. She distinctly said, "You know, Emma is kind, patient, reasonable, polite, and empathetic. And you are none of those things. I won't sit here to receive an education from someone who would rather shout abuses than help the people he is supposed to teach. Fail me if you want, I'm done."
She stood to gather her things and leave. Behind her, she could hear Simon sheepishly apologizing and trying to keep the peace, which angered her. Her nerves began to rise and spike into a near panic attack within the dream as classmates whispered and jeered, at which point, I stepped in.
I told her to hold steady. And if she could not, I would help us leave this place.
The rest of the dream sequence is my own, as Sophia faded from the dream. I stepped out of the school into the woods, where I found Colleen sitting and waiting for me with a soft smile on her face. She was lovely in the forest green, sitting patiently on a mossy rock. She and I walked for a distance, talking quietly and enjoying the peace.
Without warning, the dream changed sharply. We woke groggily in the dry, sunny bowels of a ship. We were tied with rope. I struggled but Colleen was just out of view.
The substitute stood above our head with a dark mass of murmuring villagers. He accused us of being evil, of being spawns of the devil. We were dragged from the ship back into the same woods as before, except now dark and ominous. We passed by the house with the open door, seeing Emma in the doorway with a troubled look on her face. I recall Colleen crying out to her for help, but she only turned and went inside.
We were taken up the mountain to a cave where we walked through fresh flowing groundwater. The cave was beautiful but as we ascended the watery ramps, we were brought to a dark, gaping hole at the very top. It seemed like the villagers lived within this mountainous cave, doorways and walkways etched into the walls around this massive hole. I could feel cold wind on my face, and far away at the bottom of this hole was a faint, faint red glow.
The substitute, who seemed to be the leader of this cult, made a grand speech about sacrificing the impure to hell. I struggled within my confines, growing more and more fearful. I struggled to lay eyes on Colleen, but all I could hear was her weeping somewhere behind me where I couldn't turn. Someone had restrained me in a way that all I could do was look forward into the gaping darkness that awaited us.
And with one chorus of cheering, I felt pain bloom. I heard Colleen scream. Someone must have knifed me in the back. The pain spread through my body in a slow burn. Then, someone kicked me. I plummeted into the darkness, hearing Colleen scream my name as she fell with me.
For a moment, I left my body. I watched myself fall with Colleen falling just a short distance behind me. My blood trailed behind us in the air in a gruesome arc. Before we could plummet into the darkness, we were saved.
A holographic net in cyan blue-green, hexagonal in pattern, stopped us before we could fall. We bounced against it and it glowed. I recognize this colour and pattern as something pertaining to Memory, our newest split - the happy and protective young man who seems to be cybernetic in nature. A strange computerized message appeared above our heads. "Warning: Lale has been injured. Lale has been injured. Resetting map."
Colleen and I were floated back up to the horror of the villagers. The substitute had a dark, angry look upon his face. He slammed some sort of staff against the ground and the holographic netting below us tore up like a broken fishing net. Colleen was safely deposited back on the ledge, but I began to fall anew. I felt dark fear grip me, and my mind flew out to Lucifael, who within the dream I called gege. I cried out for him and the scene of this dream ended.
Groggily, Colleen and I woke in the woods once more. It was sunset, eerily quiet. We staggered up to the house with the open door, seeing Emma sitting on the porch waiting for us. She was a girl we had never encountered in real life, curly brown hair and pale gray eyes and plump frame.
Colleen asked her why she didn't speak up on our behalf to save us. Emma replied, "Because you're the devil spawn."
I woke shortly after to Simon's alarm. I recounted this to him in a disoriented haze, as I do not often awaken at front. This is as much as I can recall. I am certain I have missed events both major and minor, but the cohesion of this dream, the revisitation of locations, and the clear map of places (the ship was west of the house, the amusement park to its south east, the school directly east, the moutain north) has struck me deeply. I cannot feel Colleen anywhere, but Sophia has reconvened with me so we can recount this to our ability.
